Men's accessories , in fact, are an essential element, a touch of style that can give originality to even the most ordinary outfit. The important thing, however, is knowing how to choose and combine them carefully , otherwise you risk the opposite effect, that is, giving the impression of sloppiness and bad taste. Here are the 5 basic rules to follow to avoid making mistakes when selecting accessories .
1) First the clothes, then the accessories
It seems trivial to say, but it is better to reiterate it: when deciding how to dress you must first start from the overall outfit, which should be chosen based on the occasion (work, party, romantic evening, etc.). Only at a later stage can we dedicate ourselves to accessories, which at that point, however, cannot deviate from the general style .
2) Don't overdo the colors
Playing with colors is always a good idea but you shouldn't get carried away. This rule applies above all to ties, hats, scarves and other accessories intended to be very visible and also produced in very bright patterns. The ideal is to stay within the two-tone limit , and if you choose solid-colored items, the best thing is to break it up with tone-on-tone solutions.
3) Shoes rule over leather accessories
Leather accessories (especially belts) are very common in the men's wardrobe and much loved. To understand how to choose them when preparing your outfit, just rely on a rigid reference rule: they must all be combined with the shoes (except for one exception, which will be discussed later). In closing, a rule that affirms the lack of rules. This is the one (partly already anticipated) which concerns bags and backpacks. Since these are very particular accessories, the choice of which is mainly linked to comfort and practicality, they are not bound to specific standards . Therefore, if they are made of leather they should not be matched with the shoes and, in general, the wearer is not required to follow the overall color of the outfit.
